"Romancing the Dog" A Girl and her Best Buddy Do St. Augustine!

We had the pleasure of hosting Gus (a happy-go-lucky Maltipoo), Lisa (a travel writer), and Dave (a photographer) back in January. Lisa has published her experiences in St. Augustine in the on-line magazine TravelLady Magazine. TravelLady Magazine is the "only Travel Magazine with over 10,000 travel articles written by over 200 Professional Travel Writers". Lisa's writing style is whimsical and entertaining. The photos - both of the charming Gus AND the St. Augustine scenery (we particularly like the view from the top of the Lighthouse!) - are well done. Click here to check out the article for yourselves.

The St. Francis Inn has been designated a Green Lodging by the state of Florida! The Florida Green Lodging program is a voluntary initiative that recognizes lodging facilities that make a commitment to conserve and protect Florida's natural resources. Inn Manager Kelly Brooks worked for several months not only to change many products and procedures here at the Inn, but to provide all the required documentation to the state to receive this special designation. Some of the changes include:
*Instead of putting bottles of water in our guest rooms we now provide recyclable, reusable water bottles for our guests to use and keep.
*We now provide an well-marked extra receptacle in every room for recycling plastic bottles and aluminum cans.
Congratulations to Kelly and her staff, Gary and his kitchen staff, and owners Joe and Margaret Finnegan for pursing and achieving this important designation!

Romantic St. Augustine

Travel Writer Christine Wynne stayed with us in January and has published a delightful article about both the St. Francis Inn and St. Augustine. Christine is the head writer and senior editor of the GlobeTrekkers travel website. GlobeTrekkers is a "collection of travel stories and advice" about unique destinations in the world. Other destinations reviewed included Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas, the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in eastern Germany, Peru's desert coast, and many others.
